Paul George Steps Away From Podcast to Focus on Struggling 76ers Season

Amidst mounting pressure and calls to shut him down for the season, Philadelphia 76ers forward Paul George has decided to take a break from his podcast, “Podcast P.” He announced Monday that he’ll be putting the show on hold to concentrate on improving his performance and helping the team make a playoff push.

“I want to let the ‘Podcast P’ family know that after today’s episode with Dwight [Howard], I plan to take a break from the pod just to focus on getting my body right, get mentally right, and help this squad make a push towards our goal,” George stated.

George’s first season in Philadelphia, following a massive four-year, $211 million contract, has been deeply disappointing. His scoring average of 16.2 points per game is the lowest it’s been in years, excluding seasons marred by significant injury. His shooting percentages have also dipped, and he’s missed 19 games due to various ailments.

“It’s no secret, this season, up to this point, hasn’t been what we envisioned,” George admitted. “I know my goal when I first signed with Philadelphia was to bring a championship to these amazing fans here. I still remain positive about that.”

The 76ers’ season has been plagued by setbacks, including extended absences from George and Joel Embiid, as well as a season-ending injury to rookie Jared McCain. Their current 20-37 record places them 12th in the Eastern Conference, outside the playoff picture.

Following a recent blowout loss to the Chicago Bulls, George expressed his frustration, questioning the team’s championship mentality. “We’ve shown no sign of a team that will compete,” he said. “We just don’t have the habits of a champion or a playoff-contending team… We’ve shown no signs of, forget championship, but a playoff team.”

George’s decision to step away from his podcast signals his commitment to addressing the team’s struggles and salvaging their season.
